Retail Price Index Figure for September Announced

The Office of National Statistics has announced the Retail Price Index figure for September 2017 as 3.9%. This is the inflation rate that will be used to calculate the business rate multipliers for 2018-2019 and effectively means that, on top of generally more challenging trading conditions brought on by the depreciation of sterling since the Brexit referendum, businesses will now be asked to pay almost 4% more in business rate liabilities from April 2018.
