Bushey Cemetery Wins RIBA Award!

Waugh Thistleton Architects? work on the unique Bushey Cemtery project has won a RIBA Prize. RIBA described the development as a poetic response to the traditions of the Jewish faith.

DWD worked closely with The United Synagogue, Waugh Thistleton Architects and Hertsmere Borough Council to successfully secure planning permission for the project. The consented scheme extended the existing Bushey Cemtery, which is located within the Green Belt. The completed development includes two new prayer halls and other cemetery facilities together with the provision of a landscape setting, circulation to burial plots and car parking.

In November 2017 the project also won the Religion Award for a completed project at the World Architecture Festival.
