DWD secured planning permission on behalf of Hiltongrove Ltd for a two-storey extension to an existing three storey building in Walthamstow, to accommodate nine residential units.
When an Inspector dismissed an earlier scheme at appeal, DWD were brought in to provide planning advice on how to secure consent for an innovative, contemporary design. Claridge Architects developed a revised scheme, which took into account Hiltongrove?s requirement for a distinctive, contemporary design, as well as the Council?s comments on the scale and massing of the extension. DWD negotiated with the Council on the acceptable scale and massing of the proposed extension as well as the S106 legal agreement.
The approved extension will create a landmark design feature on Hoe Street in Walthamstow. The contemporary design approach reflects the rhythms of the existing building whilst allowing a clear distinction between the new and old elements.
