DWD were appointed by United Properties London to manage and submit an application for planning permission for the demolition of the existing showroom and construction of a part 16, part 7 and part 3 storey mixed use development comprising 81 residential dwellings and 8,000sq.ft of offices.

The main issues that the development needed to overcome was strong local opposition to a tall building close to low-rise dwellings, the amount of affordable housing provided at the development and the impacts on an adjacent 8 storey mixed use development that was under construction.

The application was initially refused at Barnet’s planning committee who subsequently approved a revised application for a 14 storey building. The application for the 16 storey development was allowed at appeal.
